The 2026 International Training Course on Biological Data Integration, Sharing and Application was successfully held in Beijing on June 2-5, 2026. The training was organized by China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB) and Chinese Society for Cell Biology (CSCB), undertaken by the Global Biodiversity and Health Big Data Alliance (BHBD). A total of 22 trainees attended this training, including 14 researchers from Russia, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and 8 international graduate students at institutions of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) originally from Ethiopia, Kenya, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Thailand.
Prof. Wenming Zhao, Deputy Director of CNCB, delivered a welcome speech, hoping that this training course would further enhance the technical proficiency and capabilities of researchers in the field of life and health sciences, as well as promote the construction of an international cooperation network for biological big data exchange, sharing, and application.
The training courses were presented by over 10 professionals, covering genomics data submission and sharing, analysis of microbiological, RNA and single-cell omics data, as well as cutting-edge techniques and their applications in life and health sciences. Prof. Zhang Zhang, Head of Data Resources Department of CNCB, gave a report on the data resources of CNCB, and also introduced the development and activities of BHBD, wishing to expand international collaboration through the BHBD network.
The trainees also visited the National Zoological Museum of China and the Institute of Botany, CAS, where they gained a deep understanding of China’s rich biodiversity data and sample resources through listening to professional explanations and observing various animal specimens and plant varieties on site. During discussion, the trainees shared their experiences and looked forward to further strengthening cooperation and exchanges in the future.
Prof. Shuhui Song, Head of Bioinformatics Services Department of CNCB, and Chairperson of the BHBD Council, delivered concluding remarks. She expressed gratitude for the support and participation from all parties, and hoped that this training would serve as a bridge to expand the international cooperation network and lay a solid foundation for further deepening cooperation.
This training course was sponsored by the 2026 International Training Program of CSCB and the ANSO-BHBD Program, and was also endorsed as an Activity of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033).
