A mutant strain that loses the ability of producing red pigment (prodigiosin) has been obtained from endophytic bacterial strain Serratia marcescens ITBB B5-1 isolated from rubber tree. This mutant strain is designated as mu ITBB B5-1. The whole gemone of mu ITBB B5-1 is sequenced, and some important information, such as prodigiosin biosynthesis, is analyzed. |
