Description |
Passion fruit is an important crop, and its research is of great significance for the development of the world's agricultural economy. The use of passion fruit in fruit processing is expanding with more and more research were carried out on its functional, active ingredients, and health functions.Current research on passion fruit is restricted to cultivation, breeding, tea beverage processing, etc. We present a chromosome-level genome assembly of the purple fruit passion, which is widely cultivated due to its strong adaptability and high economic value. It is the first fully sequenced genome for the plants in the genus Passiflora. Our results provide insights into the evolutionary history and genetic mechanism of aroma synthesis in passion fruit. |
