Description |
Maize (Zea mays) is a staple cereal crop cultivated all over the world but that is threatened by various insects, including the aphid Rhopalosiphum padi and the common cutworm, Spodoptera litura. Feeding of the aphid R. padi on local leaf triggers systemic defence against S. litura. However, the aphid-elicited systemic defence response in maize remains largely unexplored. In order to understand genes that are responsive to the aphid-elicited systemic defence response to S. litura, RNA-seq analysis was conducted. |
