Description |
Baylisascaris schroederi, a bamboo-feeding giant panda-specific roundworm (ascaridoid) parasite, represents a leading reason for the mortality of wild giant panda populations. This project presents a chromosome-level whole-genome assembly and dynamic transcriptomes of B. schroederi to the community for the better understanding baylisascariasis in giant pandas and answers biological concerns regarding the speed of accelerated adaptive evolution and the occurrence of parasite-host coevolution in ascaridoid parasites. |
