Title Revealing the effects of maternal Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate exposure on early meiosis progression of fetal mice through single-cell RNA sequencing
Relevance Environmental
Data types Raw sequence reads
Organisms Mus musculus
Description Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is widely distributed in the environment due to the heavy use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It was found that DEHP has a toxic effect on humans and reproductivity, especially the process of meiosis, is reported to be impaired. Because of the heterogeneous and asynchronous nature of early germ cell development, the molecular profiles underlying the progression of meiosis prophase I was hard to demonstrate until the emergency of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq). In the current study, to provide in-depth insight into how maternal DEHP exposure affects the meiotic progression in the female offspring, we utilized scRNA-seq to analyze the gonadal ridges at 12.5 days post coitum (dpc) and 14.5 dpc after maternal DEHP exposure.
