Title RVFScan predicts virulence factor genes and hypervirulence of clinical metagenome
Relevance Medical
Data types Whole genome sequencing
Metagenome
Organisms Acinetobacter baumannii
archaea
Bacteria
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Klebsiella pneumoniae
Staphylococcus aureus
Description RVFScan can be applied directly to metagenomic reads to detect VFG without assembly and is suitable for low-biomass and high complexity clinical samples. The combination of RVFScan and high-frequency VFG profile of hvKP enables rapid clinical identification and symptomatic treatment of hvKP. This strategy can also be applied to the identification and the clinical anti-infective treatment of other hypervirulent pathogens.
Sample scope Multispecies
