Title Transcriptomic analysis of the hemocytes of crayfish during WSSV infection
Relevance Agricultural
Data types Transcriptome or Gene expression
Organisms Cherax quadricarinatus
Description White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) infection has been shown to greatly affect the function of host hemolymph and lead to the breaking down of the immune system. In our previous work, we identified three WSSV strains with different virulence which induced different immune responses in the host. All these strains have been fully sequenced and potential virulence factors have been identified. These strains are ideal subjects that enable us to find the interactions between WSSV and the host immune system which are critical to the pathogenesis of white spot syndrome. In this study, we explore how WSSV infection affects the function of hemocytes by transcriptomic analysis. Crayfish were divided into three groups and were injected with WSSV-CN01, WSSV-CN03, or an equal volume of normal saline. There were 15 animals in each group and the hemocytes from 5 animals were mixed as one sample. These samples were subjected to transcriptomic analysis.
