Description By genome assembly and re-sequencing of Fagopyrum esculentum var. homotropicum, our study aims to figure out the genetic difference between common buckwheat and Tartary buckwheat, as well as the population structure of common buckwheat. These results can provide abundant resource for quick genomic-assisted breeding in the improvement of elite buckwheat cultivars.
