Description This project delves into the metabolic alterations associated with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in patients suffering from Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) Syndrome, an autosomal dominant cancer syndrome marked by a high mortality rate due to RCC. Our objective is to harness metabolomics to pinpoint specific and sensitive metabolite markers in this unique patient group, thereby aiding in the broader screening, early diagnosis, intervention, and prognosis of VHL-RCC. Analyzing plasma from 61 VHL-RCC patients and 31 healthy controls, along with 19 paired RCC tumor and adjacent non-malignant tissue samples, we employed Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry for metabolomics. This approach led to the identification of critical metabolite markers, uncovering metabolic insights for the therapeutic development of this disease.
