Liver metastasis, an aggressive form of cancer progression with disappointing prognosis outcome, is enriched with immune-suppressive myeloid cells that induce T cell anergy and results in the resistance to immunotherapies. Unlike the liver metastasis-associated macrophages, the resident macrophages in healthy liver, also called Kupffer cells, line sinusoidal vessels and are in prime position to clear unfit red blood cells. This project investigated the heterogeneity and plasticity of macrophages from different origins in liver metastasis. |
