In this study, we conducted a comprehensive examination of microbiome profiles using plasma cfRNA in a cohort comprising 224 participants, including 112 healthy individuals and 112 patients at four distinct stages of GC. Significant differences in microbial composition were discovered between the two groups, establishing the potential of using plasma cfRNA for GC microbiome profiling. Through the application of machine learning techniques, we developed models that effectively differentiated between healthy individuals and GC patients, thereby showcasing the diagnostic utility of the microbiome signature. Our analysis further unveiled specific microorganisms intricately associated with different stages of GC, therefore reinforcing findings from prior gut metagenomic studies. Importantly, our study highlights the gastrointestinal microbiome as a valuable source for plasma microbiome cfRNA analysis. |
