Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a severe complication in diabetic patients, but its genomic landscape remains poorly understood. In this study, we recruited a highly selective cohort comprising 2,279 biopsy-proven DN patients, 3,762 type 2 diabetic patients (T2D) without microalbuminuria and diabetic retinopathy, and 3,970 health population without T2D as healthy control. Through a two-stage GWAS analysis, we identified novel DN susceptible loci associated with DN compared with T2D controls. Additionally, we performed multimodal analysis to integrate associations between genotype, kidney biopsy pathology, kidney tissue RNA-sequencing data, and clinical phenotype. |
