Description |
In this study, we conducted an extensive exploration of Biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) across a diverse range of microbial genomes, including metagenomic assembled genomes (MAGs). Leveraging advanced bioinformatics tool (i.e., BGC-Prophet), we systematically analyzed these genomes to identify and categorize BGCs based on their structural and functional characteristics. Our research unearthed a plethora of novel BGCs distributed among various microorganisms, showcasing distinct distribution patterns and enrichment characteristics. These findings not only contribute to the expansion of natural product diversity but also provide valuable insights into the evolutionary dynamics and ecological roles of BGCs within microbial communities. Furthermore, the identification of enriched BGCs offers promising leads for drug discovery and biotechnological applications, underscoring the importance of genomic mining in harnessing the biomedical potential of microbial ecosystems. |
