Description |
Colorectal cancer is among the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide, predominantly caused by recurrence after treatment, underscoring the need for novel diagnostic biomarkers for early detection of relapse. We hypothesize that patient response to cancer is linked closely to metabolic changes and can be detected in the blood as an indicator for recurrence. Full metabolomics analysis was performed on the longitudinal samples of 160 patients with 30 relapse cases, totaling 546 serological samples. Key biomarkers that distinguish relapse and non-relapse patients were identified, and an MRD detection algorithm was constructed based on the discovered metabolic biomarkers. |
