This project explores the molecular mechanisms by which blue light enhances cellular reprogramming in Physcomitrium patens protoplasts , with a focus on the role of SHMT1(Serine Hydroxymethyltransferase 1). Through single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) of protoplasts and leaf tissues exposed to blue light versus white light, we identified SHMT1 as a key upregulated gene under blue light. Functional analysis suggests that SHMT1-mediated metabolic shifts promote cell fate plasticity, providing insights into light-regulated reprogramming pathways in bryophytes. This study bridges photobiology with single-cell omics, offering potential applications in plant synthetic biology. |
