| Description |
Zoonotic diseases pose a major public health threat, exacerbated by rising antibiotic resistance. Non-traditional mammals may harbor zoonotic pathogens and serve as reservoirs of antibiotic resistance, but are often overlooked in routine surveillance. This study aims to characterize the virome and microbiome of these mammals, investigate the diversity of pathogens and antibiotic resistance genes in both farmed mammals and their closely related wild species, and assess potential risks of cross-species transmission. |
