Title Metagenomic Survey of the Wuding River Basin in August 2024
Relevance Environmental
Data types Metagenome
Organisms freshwater metagenome
Description This project presents a comprehensive metagenomic dataset derived from 22 water samples collected along the main stem and tributaries of the Wuding River Basin in August 2024. The Wuding River is a significant tributary of the Yellow River, located in the Loess Plateau region of China, an area known for its unique hydrological and ecological characteristics. The sampling strategy was designed to capture the spatial heterogeneity of the riverine ecosystem. The primary objective of this study is to characterize the structure and functional potential of the microbial communities within this watershed. The generated metagenomic sequences will serve as a valuable resource for investigating microbial diversity, biogeochemical cycling, and the impact of environmental factors on aquatic microbiomes. This dataset provides a foundational snapshot of the river's health and microbial ecology during the summer period, which can be used for future comparative studies, ecological assessments, and broader meta-analyses of freshwater systems.
