Description Using adult Marmota monax individuals, we preserved cecal content and then cultured the communities to test the effectiveness of preservation solutions. We sequenced the 16S rRNA gene to assess the targeted loci of cultured and environmental samples (original sample - no cultured) for identification, taxonomic assessment, and diversity comparisons.
