This BioProject contains whole-genome sequencing data for SMG-2, a hexavalent chromium-tolerant Staphylococcus gallinarum isolate recovered from river water collected at Shambazar Ghat, Buriganga River, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in October 2025. SMG-2 was isolated during a study of Cr(VI)-tolerant bacteria from the Buriganga and Shitalakshya rivers and was selected for genome sequencing because it showed the strongest chromium tolerance profile, including growth up to 1500 mg/L Cr(VI), MIC and MBC values of 3200 mg/L and 6400 mg/L, respectively, and measurable Cr(VI) reduction activity. The sequencing data were generated to support genome-based taxonomic confirmation and identification of candidate genes associated with chromate transport, redox activity, oxidative-stress defense, and heavy-metal resistance or homeostasis. |
