Soybean extreme resistance (ER) against soybean mosaic virus (SMV) is controlled by the Rsv3 R-protein, which produces symptomless resistance against the avirulent SMV strain SMV-G5H in soybean. In virus infection assays, we observed BPMV infection broke the Rsv3-mediated ER against G5H. In addition, the impairment of soybean ER to SMV was mainly mediated by BPMV large (CPL) or the small (CPS) coat proteins, which served as viral silencing suppressors (VSRs). To examine the influence of VSRs (CPL, CPS, and P19 from TBSV as a control) on small RNA biogenesis pathways, here we performed small RNA sequencing from SMV or SMV::VSRs chimera infected soybean plants. |
