Microtus fortis belongs to Rodentia; Myomorpha; Muroidea; Cricetidae; Arvicolinae; Microtus. This species is an experimental animal that has been bred and studied over a long period in our laboratory. In the process of domesticating wild Microtus fortis for experimental use, it was discovered for the first time that females, between the ages of 9 to 15 months, spontaneously developed ovarian cancer. The ovarian cancer found in Microtus fortis, highly similar to that of human epithelial ovarian cancer. Therefore, Microtus fortis serves as an ideal animal model for studying human ovarian cancer, with broad prospects for application in research. |
