Y-chromosomal short tandem repeats (Y -STRs) are highly informative tools in forensic investigations for tracing paternal lineages and generating investigative leads. However, the discriminative power of expanded Y-STR panels and optimal strategies for database searching remain inadequately defined. In this study, we estimated the mutation rates of 80 Y -STRs based on 488 father-son pairs, 114 of which were from a deep-rooted family and the remaining 374 were population-based. The raw sequencing data are provided here. |
