Title:
Androgen receptor promotes arachidonic acid metabolism and angiogenic microenvironment in AFP-negative hepatocellular carcinoma
Release date:
2025-06-07
Description:
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a widely used canonical biomarker for the incidence or recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). AFP-positive HCC (APHCC) has been intensively investigated; however, the microenvironmental characteristics of AFP-negative HCC (ANHCC) remain to be deciphered. We not only uncovered a previously unrecognized AR-mediated hyperactive arachidonic acid microenvironment in ANHCC, but also revealed AR-11,12-EET-EGFR axis-induced angiogenesis, providing a strategy for combined androgen receptor inhibitor with anti-angiogenic blockade for ANHCC intervention.
