Functional targeting of PTTG1 in pericytes restores vascular integrity in diabetic retina
Release date:
2026-04-07
Description:
Pericyte loss is an early event in diabetic retinopathy, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Single-cell RNA sequencing of retinal cells identified a PTTG1-high pericyte subpopulation that was enriched in diabetic mice. Integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses showed that PTTG1 silencing reprogrammed cellular metabolism, altering glycolytic flux and reducing oxidative stress.
