Description: High cell-free fetal (cffDNA) levels in maternal plasma may predict the risk of pre-eclampsia (PE). However, current cffDNA markers seem to lack power in clinical practice, possibly because they are not disease-specific. We identified numerous differentially methylated regions associated with PE, and found a large proportion of them are hypermethylated in adult tissues.
