Description: Cephalotaxus hainanensis is a relic plant which belongs to the genus Cephalotaxus, family Cephalotaxaceae. Cephalotaxus is the only member of this family, and contains merely 7 species which are all endemic to Asia. It is also a precious medicinal plant and has been listed as endangered species in China. C. hainanensishas high medicinal value because of its unique secondary metabolites, cephalotaxine and its derivatives.
