ELFN1-AS1 has its own promoter and it is a subject of a complex regulation by various TFs, c-Myc/Max and E2F family proteins in particular.[1]

Function

ELFN1-AS1 is translated and functions as a protein.[1] ELFN1-AS1 codes for a miRNA and its function is related to regulation of gene expression.[1] ELFN1-AS1 may have similar function with ELFN1, which is selectively expressed by O-LM interneurons and directs the formation of highly facilitating pyramidal-O-LM synapses.[1]

Expression

ELFN1-AS1 is abundant in tumors, but seems to be weak and specific to liver, heart, and stomach[1]
