Expression

Originally cloned from an human bone marrow library ((Sutherland 2000)), this transcript is abundant in skeletal and cardiac muscle (as detected by Northern blot) ((Rintala-Maki 2009)).

Function

  • Transfection of Jurkat T cells with a 326 bp fragment of LUST (originally termed Je2) suppresses CD95-mediated apoptosis ((Sutherland 2000)).
  • Ectopic over-expression of LUST affects splicing of RBM5: it correlates with elevated expression of the full-length RBM5+5+6 splice variant, and with reduced expression of the truncated RBM5+5+6t isoform, which is cytotoxic ((Rintala-Maki 2009)).
