Annotated Information
Name
LINC01186:long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1186
Characteristics
LINC01186 is a ~600 nt long transcript, consisting of two exons, and originating from a locus of approximately 1.7 kb in the short arm of chromosome X.[1]
Cellular Localization
Comparison on the nuclear and cytosolic fractions of A549 cells shows that the LINC01186 transcript is mainly located in the nucleus irrespective of TGF-β1 treatment.[1]
Function
The bioinformatics analysis suggest that LINC01186 is associated with TGF-β and might participatein EMT process. In addition, knocking-down LINC01186 promots cell migration and invasion, whereas, LINC01186 overexpression prevents cell metastasis.[1]
Regulation
LINC01186 is regulated by SMAD3 and inhibits EMT.[1]
Expression
The expression of LINC01186 is significantly decreased in A549 cells treated with TGF-β1. Furthermore, LINC01186 is stably down-regulated in lung cancer tissues compared with normal tissues in TCGA data sets and another published lung cancer datasets.[1]
Diseases
Lung cancer [1]
