Annotated Information
Name
COL1A2-AS1:COL1A2 antisense RNA 1
LncRNA8975-1[1]
Characteristics
LncRNA8975-1(TCONS_00013888 in UCSC hg38; also named NONHSAT122029 in NONCODEv4) is an lncRNA located upstream of the COL1A2 gene on chromosome 7(UCSC hg38, chr7:94278999-94392179, ChIPBase named it lncRNA8975-1). In addition, lncRNA8975-1 is a transcript of 352 nucleotides and comprises 5 exons(NONHSAT122029 in NONCODEv4) based on bioinformatics analyses. LncRNA8975-1 contains no overlapping sequence with the transcripts from its neighbouring gene COL1A2 and is a natural antisense lncRNA. [1]
Function
Dysregulation of lncRNA8975-1 can affect collagen and α-SMA expression in fibroblasts. Further more, knockdown of lncRNA8975-1 significantly increases cell proliferation, whereas overexpression of lncRNA8975-1 inhibits HSF(hypertrophic scar fibroblasts) cell proliferation.[1]
Expression
The expression of lncRNA8975-1 is significantly overexpressed in hypertrophic scar tissues compared to normal skin tissues. Furthermore, lncRNA8975-1 expression in hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSF) is higher than in normal skin fibroblasts (NSF). [1]
