Characteristics
MVIH is a lncRNA with no protein‐coding potential. A majority of the MVIH sequence is located within the intron of the RPS24 gene, which encodes a protein belonging to the S24E family of ribosomal proteins. Despite the interrelated location of MVIH within the RPS24 gene, these two genes are independently transcribed. The independent regulation of the two transcripts suggests that MVIH might play a role in biological behaviors independent of RPS24. [1]
Function
MVIH plays a key role in activating angiogenesis. It is associated with tumor growth and metastasis upregulation, and poor recurrence-free survival. [1] MVIH can promote tumor inducing angiogenesis through inhibiting the secretion of phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1). [1][2] MVIH also promotes cell proliferation and invasion in non-small cell lung cancer. [3]
Regulation
Dysregulation of lncRNA promotes tumor growth through angiogenesis. [1]
Expression
lncRNA MVIH (long noncoding RNA associated with microvascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma) was overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma. MVIH overexpression was associated with frequent microvascular invasion and a higher tumor node metastasis stage as well as decrease in recurrence-free survival. [1]
Diseases
