Annotated Information
Name
SCAT8: S-phase cancer associated transcript 8 [1], EYS-AS1 (HGNC nomenclature).
Characteristics
SCAT8 is 1454 bp long non-coding RNA, located on human chromosome chr6q12 (HGNC) [1].
Function
Higher expression of all SCATs is correlated with poor overall survival [1].
Depletion of SCAT8 in Caki-2 cells altered cell proliferation, inhibited cell cycle progression, and induced apoptosis. SCAT8 appeared to be the top prognostic indicator with the higher hazard ratio in multivariate models and it also interferes with cancer cell hallmarks, indicating that it may be an oncogenic driver in multiple cancers [1].
