Characteristics

ARLNC1 is located on chromosome 16 along with presence of several transcript isoforms that differ in exon and TSS usage [1]. ARLNC1 molecules are distributed equally between the nuclear and cytoplasmic cellular compartments [1].

Function

ARLNC1 has the potential to be not only a mechanistic biomarker, but also a therapeutic target for advanced prostate cancer [1]. ARLNC1 regulates the cytoplasmic levels of AR transcripts [1]. Inhibition of ARLNC1 delays prostate cancer growth in vitro and in vivo [1].

Regulation

ARLNC1 is directly regulated by AR and modestly regulated by FOXA1 [1].

Diseases

  • Prostate cancer [1].

Expression

ARLNC1 exhibited a highly prostate cancer-specific expression pattern, with little to no expression in other tumor types [1].
