Approved symbol:CPNE8-AS1
Approved name:CPNE8 antisense RNA 1

Characteristics
CPNE8-AS1 located on chromosome 12 is a 526 bp-long lncRNA that is transcribed in antisense orientation from intron [1].
Function
CPNE8-AS1 overexpression reduces overall survival time and tumor-free survival time, compared to underexpression of RP11-396F22.1, which suggests that CPNE8-AS1 might be the molecular marker for predicting lymph node metastasis and evaluating prognosis in early CC. Moreover, in vitro researches indicate that knockdown of CPNE8-AS1 inhibits proliferation and migration of CC cells and increases G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptotic rate [1].

Expression
CPNE8-AS1's expression has been observed to significantly increase in CC tissues and decreased in adjacent tissues (cervical stroma and muscular layer) [1].
