Annotated Information
Name
PTCSC2:papillary thyroid carcinoma susceptibility candidate 2 (non-protein coding)(HGNC nomenclature)
Disease
thyroid carcinoma
PubmedID
25303483
Characteristics
PTCSC2, a 1635 bp long intergenic noncoding RNA gene and locus in 9q22.33,named papillary thyroid cancer susceptibility candidate 2 (PTCSC2)[1].
Function
PTCSC2 plays an important role in the predisposition to PTC(papillary thyroid cancer)[1].
Regulation
PTCSC2 is involved in the regulation and interaction of coding and noncoding genes[1]. The cells transfected with the PTCSC2-c construct showed a strong RT-PCR band in the presence of reverse transcriptase, but not in the absence of reverse transcriptase.[1].
Expression
Forced expression of PTCSC2 in the BCPAP cell line affected the expression of a subset of noncoding and coding transcripts with enrichment of genes functionally involved in cell cycle and cancer [1].
