Novel long non-coding RNA TTN-AS1 plays a vital role in ESCC progression and metastasis. TTN-AS1 enhances Snail1 and FSCN1 levels by competitively binding to miR-133b, resulting in the promotion of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) cascades. Meanwhile, TTN-AS1 also induces HuR via its sponge activity, which further activates the FSCN1/β-catenin signaling pathway. In addition, TTN-AS1/miR-133b/FSCN1 is a potential prognostic biomarker panel in ESCC carcinogenesis [1].

Regulation

TTN-AS1 promotes expression of transcription factor Snail1 by competitively binding miR-133b, resulting in the EMT cascade. Moreover, TTN-AS1 also induces FSCN1 expression by sponging miR-133b and upregulation of mRNA-stabilizing protein HuR, which further promotes ESCC invasion cascades [1].
