Characteristics
KRTAP5-AS1 is two exon transcript of 2265 bp long non-coding RNA, located on chromosome chr11p15.5 and has five predicted miR-3620-3p targeting sites and five predicted miR-596 targeting sites [1].
Function
KRTAP5-AS1 serve as a competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) for miR-596 and miR-3620-3p and regulate the expression of CLDN4, a critical member of the claudin family, has been observed to alter expression patterns in various types of carcinomas including gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, and ovarian cancer [1].
KRTAP5-AS1 and lncRNA-TUBB2A enhance the proliferative and invasive capacity of GC cells in vitro [1].

KRTAP5-AS1 is overexpressed in gastric cancer (GC) [1].
