FENDRR is essential for proper heart and body wall development in mouse <ref name="ref2" />. It is also involved in lung development. Deletion of FENDRR causes a lethal lung developmental disorder <ref name="ref3" />. In gastric cancer tissues and cell lines, FENDRR is dramatically downregulated, which is significantly associated with invasion depth, tumor stage, lymphatic metastasis and patients'survival time. Moreover, upregulation of FENDRR has the effect of suppressing gastric cancer cell migration and invasion in vitro by targeting FN1 and MMP2/MMP9 <ref name="ref1" />.

FENDRR

Annotated Information

Name

Decreased expression ofFENDRRin gastric cancer cells; histone deacetylation is involved inFENDRRdownregulation. [1].

FENDRR: FOXF1 adjacent non-coding developmental regulatory RNA .

Previous Name: "FOXF1 antisense RNA 1 (head to head)", FOXF1-AS1

ID

GenBank ID: KC505631.1

HGNC ID:49667

Characteristics

Chromosome location:16q24.1

Diseases

  • gastric cancer [1]

Function

FENDRR is essential for proper heart and body wall development in mouse [2]. It is also involved in lung development. Deletion of FENDRR causes a lethal lung developmental disorder [3]. FENDRR is dramatically downregulated in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines, and downregulation of FENDRR is significantly associated with invasion depth, tumor stage, lymphatic metastasis and patients'survival time. FENDRR may suppress gastric cancer cell migration and invasion by targeting FN1 and MMP2/MMP9 [1].

Expression

DNA methylation contribution little to FENDRR expression.[1]
