Annotated Information
Name
PGR-AS1: PGR antisense RNA 1 (HGNC nomenclature), AT1, AT2, AT3 [1].
Characteristics
PGR-AS1 is five exon transcript of 1223 bp (GenBank) long noncoding RNA and is found on human chromosome 11q22.1. The AT2 transcripts are spliced and polyadenylated, contain repetitive elements (long and short interspersed nuclear elements (LINEs and SINEs) and long terminal repeats (LTRs)) and are transcribed over a 70-kb region of genomic DNA [1].
Function
Antisense transcript AT2-T47D could be purified from T47D cells transfected with inhibitory agRNA PR9 biotinylated on the strand complementary to AT2-T47D. Addition of activating agRNA PR11 promots the association of AGO protein with antisense transcript AT2-MCF7 [1].
Expression
AT2-T47D(found only in T47D cells) and AT2-MCF7(found only in MCF7 cells) antisense transcripts are the most highly expressed transcripts.[1]
