DGCR5
Apprroved Name
DGCR5: (DiGeorge syndrome critical region gene 5 (non-protein coding)) NCRNA00037, LINC00037 [1]
Characteristics
In humans, DGCR5 is located on chromosome 22q11, at the ADU breakpoint [2]. DGCR5 originates from a cis-acting transcriptional control element in the vicinity of the ADU/VDU breakpoint.[3]
Function
DGCR5 is a functional RNA; production of DGCR5 transcripts is necessary for regional transcriptional control.[3] Production of DGCR5 transcripts is necessary for regional transcriptional control and DGCR5 transcripts are merely a reflection of a particular chromatin configuration maintained over the region encoding the gene.[3].
Long non-coding RNA DGCR5 is involved in the regulation of proliferation, migration and invasion of lung cancer by targeting miR-1180 [4].
DGCR5 promotes the lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) progression via playing anti-apoptosis roles. Mechanically, it exerts its biological functions through regulating miRNA miR-22-3p in a ceRNA manner[5].
Regulation
Expression of DGCR5 is regulated by the transcription factor REST. [6]
Disease
- Clear cell renal cell carcinoma [3]
- Digeorge syndrome [3]
- Clear cell renal cell carcinoma [7]
- Lung cancer susceptibility [4]
- Velocardiofacial syndrome [8]
- Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD)[5]
Expression
DGCR5 inhibited the expression of AKT, GSK-3β, and β-catenin by targeting miR-1180 [4] DGCR5 is expressed during human and murine embryogenesis [3]
DGCR5 was upregulated in LUAD tissues and LUAD cell lines. Inhibition of DGCR5 can prevent LUAD progression via playing anti-apoptosis roles. Both mRNA expression and protein levels of BCL-2 were increased by DGCR5 downregulation while reversely BAX was increased[5]
