SCAT2 is a long non-coding RNA that modulate cell cycle progression and cell proliferation.

SCAT2: S-phase cancer associated transcript 2 [1], CBX5-AS1 (HGNC nomenclature).

Characteristics

SCAT2 is 735 bp long non-coding RNA, located on chromosome chr12q13.13 (HGNC) [1].

Function

Oncogenic functions of EPIC1 in breast cancer. [1]

Higher expression of all SCATs is correlated with poor overall survival [1].

Downregulation or overexpression of SCATs affected cancer cell hallmarks such as cell cycle progression, cell proliferation, apoptosis, cellular senescence, and cell invasion/migration, indicating that our cell cycle-based functional screen identified potential oncogenic drivers [1].
