LINC02595 is involved in distant metastasis and is also associated with poor prognosis in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC).

Characteristics

Human LINC02595 gene is located in the chromosome Xp11 gene desert between HDAC6 (Histone deacetylase 6), WDR45 (WD repeat domain 45) [1].

Function

Study confirms that LINC02595 is an independent prognostic factor in CRC and correlated with metastasis by detecting RNA level in clinical specimens, however it cannot be confirmed that LINC02595 may promote CRC cell invasion and metastasis in vitro [1].

Expression

LINC02595 expression level is frequently higher in cancerous tissues than corresponding noncancerous tissue. Higher LINC02595 expression is significantly correlated with shortened overall survival and distant metastasis [1]. Data shows that patients with high expression of LINC02595 have significantly shorter overall survival time and metastasis free survival time than patients with low LINC02595 expression [1]. It was also found that distant metastasis was the clinical factor correlated with LINC02595 overexpression in CRC [1].
