Annotated Information

Name

TFAP2A-AS2:TFAP2A antisense RNA 2

HIPSTR.[1]

Characteristics

HIPSTR (Heterogeneously expressed from the Intronic Plus Strand of the TFAP2A-locus RNA) is a novel lncRNA gene in the developmentally regulated TFAP2A locus.[1]

Function

[[ HIPSTR promoter is most active in undifferentiated cells, and depletion of HIPSTR in HEK293 and in pluripotent H1BP cells predominantly affects the genes involved in early organismal development and cell differentiation.

Regulation

TFAP2A can regulate HIPSTR promoter[1].

HIPSTR promoter can be stimulated by TFAP2A, but HIPSTR and TFAP2A are not consistently co-induced in developmental models in vitro.[1]

Expression

The expression of TFAP2A-AS2[1].

HIPSTR is a bona fide antisense lncRNA. And HIPSTR has an evolutionarily conserved tissue-specific expression pattern, and that it is predominantly expressed in testis and placenta of mouse (Mouse ENCODE Project RNA-seq data) and of human. In addition, HIPSTR expression in the early human embryo is restricted to a subset of cells.[1]
