Northern blot analysis of OsMT-II-1a expression: (A) spatial distribution of OsMT-II-1a expression using total RNA isolated from roots (R), stems (St), rachises (Ra), glumes before pollination (BP), 2-day glumes after pollination (AP), 15-day-old seeds (Se), young leaves (YL), mature leaves (ML), old leaves (OL), young sheaths (YS), mature sheaths (MS) and old sheaths (OS). (B) OsMT-II-1a expression in response to various exogenous factors. Rice seedlings treated with various exogenous factors respectively: 42 1C heat shock (HS) for 2h, 41C low temperature (LT) for 24 h, wounding (W) for 45 min, 30% polyethylene glycol-8000 (PEG) for 24 h, 5mM hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 24 h, 30 mM paraquat (Pa) for 24 h, etiolated seedlings (Es), 2mM ethephon (Et) for 24 h, 100 mM abscisic acid (ABA) for 24 h, 5mM salicylate acid (SA) for 24 h and 5mM sodium nitroprusside (SNP) for 24 h. The control (CK) was treated with distilled water. Total RNA (10 mg) was loaded in each lane. The ethidium bromide-stained rRNA bands are shown as a loading control.
