It is located on chromosome 6.There are two other caleosin genes-Os06g0254300 and Os06g0254600 in chromosome 6.These three genes get together because tandem duplication.Caleosins have a significant feature that EF-hand domain in N-terminal can combine Ca2+,a central hydrophobic region and a security protein kinase phosphorylation sites in C-terminal.Caleosins's N-terminal and C-terminal are located in the cytoplasm,however central hydrophobic region are anchored in the phospholipid monolayer membrane.
