Function
- The full-length cDNA of OsGL1-2 was isolated from Minghui 63 by gene-specific primers and cloned into pCAMBIA1301S under the control of Cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter[1].
- OsGL1-2 gene has a significant role in controlling the wax layer and thus protecting leaves from water loss in rice[1].

- Among 23 independent transgenic plants generated, nine transgenic plants showed high expression level of the transgene[1].

- OsGL1-2 was induced by ABA treatment, and the highest induction was at 12 h after the treatment. RT-PCR analysis showed that the transcript of OsGL1-2 gene was broken down in the 04Z11ML82 mutant[1].
- The OsGL1-2-overexpresion plants showed a significant decrease of chlorophyll leaching and the osgl1-2 mutant plants showed a significant increase of chlorophyll leaching, which indicates that over-expression of OsGL1-2 genes decreased the cuticular permeability and perhaps can cause drought tolerance of the plants[1].
