The rice Os05g0247100 was reported as OsHI-XIP in 2014 [1] by researchers from China.

Annotated Information

Figure 2. Localization of OsHI-XIP in N. tabacum cells..[1].

Function

  • The rice gene OsHI-XIPa rice encodes xylanase-inhibiting protein (XIP)
  • Overexpression of OsHI-XIP Enhances the Activity of Xylanase Inhibitors and Resistance in Rice to SSBs.
  • Overexpression of OsHI-XIP Reduces the Feeding and Oviposition Preferences of BPHs
  • The rice XIP-type xylanase inhibitor OsHI-XIP is involved in the resistance in rice to herbivores.

Phenotypic analysis

Compared with WT plants, overexpression of OsHI-XIP did not influence the growth and development of rice plants during their whole life.

Expression

  • QRT-PCR analysis revealed a low constitutive mRNA level of OsHI-XIP, while herbivore infestation, mechanical wounding, and JA treatment, especially SSB infestation, result in an obvious increase in transcript levels.

Subcellular localization

Subcellular localization analysis showed that OsHI-XIP localized in the ER.

You can also add sub-section(s) at will.
