Annotated Information
Figure 1. Characterization of the osdg2 mutants.[1].
Function
- OsDG2 gene encoded a novel chloroplast-targeted GRP in rice.
- Disruption of the OsDG2 would lead to delayed greening phenotype and affected expression levels of genes associated with chloroplast development at early leaf stage of rice.
Phenotypic analysis
- Leaves of the osdg2 mutant displaying a delayed greening phenotype were characterized with bright yellow until three-leaf stage, thereafter, the emerging leaves turned to green (Fig. 1A).
- Likewise, the contents of Chl a, b, and Car for the 3rd leaves were significantly reduced in osdg2 mutant (Fig. 1B), but those for the 4th leaves reached a normal level as WT Jiahua 1 (Fig. 1D).
- This result is in accordance with the leaf phenotype of osdg2 mutant.
Expression
- RT-PCR analysis showed that the OsDG2 transcripts were highly expressed in leaves and undetectable in other tissues, showing the tissue-specific expression.
Subcellular localization
- Subcellular localization results showed that OsDG2 was targeted in chloroplasts.
