The rice Os03g0181100 was reported as TIFY11b in 2012 [1] by researchers from Japan.

Annotated Information

Figure 2. Grain Sizes for Transgenic Plants Overexpressing TIFY11b in Ripening Seeds (prolamin promoter) and in the Whole Plant Body (ubiquitin promoter) and Control Plants (vector control)..[1].

Function

  • Overexpression of Rice TIFY11b Gene Increases Grain Size through Enhanced Accumulation of Carbohydrates in the Stem
  • TIFY11b is a novel grain-size increasing gene.

Expression

  • Mature leaves (the 4th leaf from the top frag leaf) of TIFY11b-overexpressing lines were 1.09 to 1.18-fold longer than corresponding leaves of WT plants (Fig. 3A).
  • Microscopic observation of the leaf surface revealed that it was filled with cells of similar sizes among the transgenic lines and WT plants (Fig. 3B, C), suggesting that the elongation caused by the overexpression of TIFY11b was due to an increase in the number, not the size, of the cells.

You can also add sub-section(s) at will.
